Molecular weight is determined using Gel Permeation Chromatography. As a result of our studies, the molecular weights of the dispersing agents we synthesized were determined in Table 1, providing guidance in evaluating the performance of dispersing agents in paints. Thus, characterization analyses indicate that dispersing agents in the 5.000-15.000 g/mol range positively impact post-stabilization viscosity change, particularly when used in paint formulations with high PVC content. The aim is for this high-performance, functional polymeric dispersant to contribute to the circular economy. Effect of Dispersion Agent on Paint PerformanceIn water-based construction paints, the dispersing agent increases the colloidal stability of the system by ensuring the homogeneous distribution of pigment and filler particles. The dispersing agent adsorbs to particle surfaces, creating an electrostatic or steric effect and thus preventing flocculation. This extends the paint%u2019s shelf life by preventing sedimentation and phase separation that may occur over time. Competitor 2, due to its high viscosity change, experienced phase separation after stabilization, as observed in Figure 4. Furthermore, homogeneous dispersion improves surface smoothness and color consistency during film formation. Consequently, the use of the appropriate dispersing agent significantly enhances both the physical stability and application performance of the paint.
