Each venue has a set allocation of tickets to distribute. Tickets will be available at each
of these venues until there are no tickets remaining. You can obtain a maximum of six
tickets per household across all four nights and this includes children unless they are
carried in a baby carrier/sling. Tickets are not available by telephone.
This year a new Lumiere app is available, powered by This is Durham with support from
Light Up the North, to help guide visitors around the festival and make the most of their
visit to Durham. It can be downloaded for free from the Apple app store (iOS) or Google
Play (Android).
10th anniversary festival programmes priced £2 will be available from Thursday 17th
October from the 11 ticketing sites already listed. Programmes will also be available
from the Lumiere Visitor Hub in Millennium Place. The Lumiere Visitor Hub will be open
from Saturday 9th November between 11am and 5pm and between 12pm and 11pm
from Thursday 14th November until Sunday 17th November, and at several locations
across the city during the four nights.
Helen Marriage, Director of Artichoke , said: “This year’s 10th anniversary edition offers
the chance to relive some of the wonderful memories of previous festivals, sprinkled as
always with an element of surprise. We hope visitors from across the county and beyond
join us as we take to the cobbled streets of Durham for four
nights of wintry magic.”
Cllr Simon Henig, Leader of Durham County Council, said: “Over the decade in which it
has run, Lumiere has provided a treasure chest of memories for hundreds of thousands
of local residents and visitors. It is a world class event which has huge social and
economic benefits for County Durham and the North East. This year’s programme is truly
awe-inspiring and will once again showcase our county as a place of light, where
heritage is cherished and innovation is embraced and encouraged.”
Professor Janet Stewart, Executive Dean (Arts and Humanities) at Durham University,
said: “Lumiere is an inspiring event; it’s innovative, exciting and something that many,
many people look forward to greatly. As Durham’s University, we’re proud to have been
involved with Lumiere from the beginning and very pleased to be a major partner for
Lumiere Durham 2019: sponsoring the festival, hosting new and returning installations
and supporting across cultural engagement, volunteering and logistics.”
