The Academy of St Martin in the Fields (ASMF) is
celebrating the centenary of its founder, Sir Neville
Marriner, with significant developments. Leading
the orchestra into its next chapter, Music Director
and violinist Joshua Bell has extended his contract
until August 2028, reaffirming his commitment
since 2011.
Bell’s dynamic leadership has been pivotal in elevating ASMF’s collaborative music-making,
fostering a strong bond between the orchestra and its global audience. His extension comes
on the heels of a successful US tour, where the orchestra, under his direction, performed to
over 25,000 attendees across 16 concerts. Expressing his delight, Bell emphasised the
profound influence of Marriner on his career and the orchestra’s legacy, underscoring the
privilege of continuing Marriner’s vision.
