In another milestone, renowned pianist Murray Perahia has been appointed as an ASMF
Principal Artist, solidifying his long-standing relationship with the ensemble. Perahia, who
shares a rich history with ASMF, will not only grace the stage for performances but will also
offer coaching to selected musicians, contributing to ASMF’s artistic growth behind the
scenes.
These announcements coincide with ASMF’s unveiling of the Marriner Projects, a series of
player-led initiatives honouring Marriner’s entrepreneurial spirit. Additionally, ASMF
introduces its first Honorary Members: Alfonso Aijon, Maria Cardamone, Lady Marriner and
Cornelia Schmid, who are recognised for their transformative contributions to the
orchestra’s past, present and future.
With a focus on financial independence, ASMF launches a fundraising campaign, “Our
Players, Our Purpose, Our Future”, aiming to raise £5 million by its 70th anniversary in
2028. The campaign supports sustainability and player-led projects, commissions and social
purpose initiatives, emphasising financial independence.
