‘Deceit Outwitted’
Each year the Sarasota Opera tries to produce an opera that has been long
overlooked or is rarely performed. This season’s entry is the comedic
“Deceit Outwitted” by Joseph Haydn. It was written during the composer’s
time working for the Esterházy family in Vienna, and many of his operas
were not discovered until after World War II. Hanna Brammer, William
Davenport and Filippo Fontana are among the returning singers featured.
