The Longborough Ring

English National Opera may have abandoned its plans to stage Wagner’s Ring, but in its

converted agricultural shed in the Cotswolds the Longborough Festival Opera presents the four-

opera cycle as a complete entity for the second time in a decade. The driving force is the veteran
conductor Anthony Negus, but there’s also an intensely committed cast led by Lee Bisset as

        Brünnhilde.

        English Touring Opera

Transformed by new leadership, English Touring Opera takes two radical new stagings on the
road next spring. Jude Christian’s production of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut has a fresh English

translation that is expected to offer a new slant on the tragedy, while Polly Graham directs a

        21st-century take on Stravinsky’s Hogarth-inspired satire, The Rake’s Progress.
