JW Francis
Who is he? A New York-based singer-songwriter, born in Oklahoma and brought up in Paris.
His new album, Dream House (released on January 27), draws on the songs he writes each
February for fans who request bespoke tracks for Valentine’s Day. As with Francis’s previous
albums, We Share a Similar Joy and Wanderkid, the music — lo-fi, up-close, whimsical jingle-
jangle confections à la Jonathan Richman, Mac DeMarco and Her’s — has a deceptive
simplicity that insinuates itself over the threshold and into your heart. The dreamy new
single, Going Home to a Party, is an accurate guide to an album that’s a total delight.
When’s the music out? Now, on Sunday Best; jwfrancis.com.
