was defined. This panorama takes us back to the first 50 years of the twentieth century, like a
portrait with multiple hues.
This journey navigates at the crossroads of scholarly and popular music without forgetting the
metamorphoses of a country in full urbanization and industrialization, from the calm of the night to
the turpitudes of city life. The program is cleverly conceived and alternates soaring moments with
Aaron Copland and Charles Ives and more easily melodious and rhythmic scores by Bernstein and
Gershwin. Let us salute the sparkling virtuosity of the astonishing arrangement of the
legendary Rhapsody in Blue in an arrangement inspired and successful by Simon Wright.
We continue the journey with two arrangements by the brilliant Gill Evans for Miles Davis in hits by
Rodrigo and Weill. The musician does not try to imitate the "Miles Davis" sound and she brings a
musicality both natural and touching to the adagio of Rodrigo's Aranjuez Concerto and Kurt
Weill's bre f My Ship .
The listener can appreciate a meticulous but very convincing musical realization in a fabulous sound
recording that gives us the impression of having the musicians at home. A very successful album with
both dark and light hues that is well suited to a return to autumn.
