How are people beating the Self-Quarantine

               Boredom?

Along with many sectors, music and live entertainment have gone down severely in the global
coronavirus pandemic. While experiencing live music or theatrical play is near to impossible at the
time of self-quarantine, people have resorted to digital music and online theater to beat boredom.

A whole year of festivals, gigs, and theatrical tours has been thrown into doubt as the world is at a
               standstill for the foreseeable future.

As a surprise, music streaming has gone down where people have taken up digital streaming. We
believe that as people are resorted to staying home with more free time in hand, they are switching to
catching up with all the digital streaming such as movies and web series. The digital platform like
Amazon Prime and Netflix has helped bring all the great video content to people which have helped
them to choose from a wide range of contents.

               Music Streaming is going down

Music Business Worldwide found that global streams from Spotify’s Top 200 chart dropped 11% to
226 million plays in the week commencing March 13. Most countries including the USA and European
nations went into full or partial lockdown on March 13. The live theater, music shops, restaurants, and
record shops went into full lockdown because of social distancing.

The Q1 of 2020 is seeing the lowest turnout in the history of music streaming. Interestingly, the week

commencing March 13th represents the lowest number of streams globally since the last week of
2019 and the first week of 2020.

However, more people are turning to Radio in the last few weeks.
According to the BBC, it saw a rise in its own radio properties streaming by 18%. This is similar to
reports from Global (which owns Capital FM and LBC 97.3) which saw a 15% increase in online radio
streams between March 9th and 17th.
