"What a superb evening !! The Stone Nest venue is rapidly becoming THE new venue for breaking the mould
of arts events. And Theatre of Sound may well be doing the same thing for opera. I know this opera well, but
I was mesmerised by this deeply thoughtful interpretation. The beautifully strong and resonant voices of
Gweneth-Ann Rand and Gerald Finley were superb; Stephen Higgins and the players from the London
Sinfonietta provided just the right level of sound for the space. The extra players on stage were an initial
surprise, but their meaning quickly became apparent. And the opening of the final "door" brought my heart
in my mouth and tears to my eyes. I am now about to buy tickets for another performance, and hope to
bring friends to this very special evening."
