Moncton is as abundant in nature and entertainment as it is food. There’s no shortage of culinary experiences to
tantalize your taste buds, from mom and pop diners, to a shipping container beer garden, to an award-winning
gastropub featured on the Food Network. For wine lovers, Magnetic Hill Winery offers tasting and tours daily from
noon to 10 p.m. The bed and breakfast on the property is ideal for visitors or groups who want to celebrate a special
occasion.
Moncton, New Brunswick housing market
Affordable real estate has always been a major draw for those who want to live in Moncton. Over the last two years,
the city’s home prices have been relatively inexpensive in comparison to big cities like Toronto, Montreal, or Ottawa.
As of July 2022, the average home price of a single family home is approximately $336,000 which is nearly half of the
national average of approximately $666,000. Though this price is low compared to the rest of Canada, the Maritimes
are seeing a rise in home sales and prices as many Canadians are moving inter-provincially to Atlantic Canada to try
and take advantage of lower prices and laid-back lifestyles. In fact, according to the Canadian Real Estate Association
(CREA), “home sales [in New Brunswick] were 10.7% above the five-year average and 28.5% above the 10-year average
for the month of June.”
Not only is housing below the national pricing average in Moncton, but the city has lots of natural landscapes,
generally short commutes, a booming fintech industry, top-rated schools, and open-minded communities. These
benefits make Moncton appealing to young professionals, couples, and families with children.
Neighbourhoods in the west and north Moncton are
ideal for people who want good schools, nearby green
spaces and parks. The west-end of the city is closer to
Centennial Park. Riverview and Dieppe, which is part of
the Greater Moncton Area, are other neighbourhoods
worth paying attention to. Currently on REALTOR.ca,
homes in Moncton are listed from $99,900 for a one-
bedroom condo to $199,900 for a four-bedroom house
downtown. ■
