• DBT-BIRAC announced a COVID-19 Research
Consortium call, soliciting project proposals
for developing Diagnostics, Vaccines, Novel
Therapeutics, Repurposing of Drugs or any other
intervention for control of COVID-19 by Industry/
Academia/ Industry-Academia participation.
• The multi-tiered review process is ongoing for
the second phase of the call. 70 proposals have
been recommended funding support under the
first phase.
• Recommended support to 10 Vaccines, 34
Diagnostics products or scale-up facilities, 10
Therapeutics, 02 Drug Repurposing and 14
preventive interventions.
• BIRAC partnered with Invest India to seek CSR
Funds for COVID-19 Research Consortium.
• Fast track Internal Review Committee constituted
to support start-ups that are ready for immediate
deployment. 5 startups have been recommended
and 1 co-funding partner was identified.
• FIRST HUB (Facilitation of Innovation and
Regulation for Start-ups and Innovators) weekly
sessions only for COVID-19 solutions. A special
FIRST HUB webinar was organized on 17th April
