amodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is a Statutory Body under the
Ministry of Power came into existence on 7th July, 1948 by an Act
Dof Central Legislature (Act No. XIV of 1948) keeping in view the
integrated development of Damodar Valley in the States of Bihar (presently
Jharkhand) and West Bengal. The mandated responsibilities of DVC include
irrigation & flood control, generation, transmission and distribution of power,
soil conservation in the command area as well as socio-economic development
and general well-being of its people.
