Monkey Wrench Hole in the Barn Door 1930s. Purchased prior to 2011. 61"x76" Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Heavy
cotton. Backing: Brown cotton with stenciled letters, much darkening in some panels. Edge: A hand-made
tape of various fabrics is affixed by hand by ½" on each side. Piecing: By hand. Quilting: By hand in diag-
onals 2½" apart, 3 stitches per inch. Condition: Good. Some pastels have faded. All are in the sashes on
one end and border on the opposite end. One end and one side have borders. The pattern extends to the
edge on the other 2 sides. Comment: Collected to include a common and popular pattern in the survey of
American quilts. A classical utility scrap quilt.
