Advised Council on development of $10 million Rotary Arts Centre as anchor facility in Cultural District; Secured $3 million Council commitment toward project.
Assisted with fundraising campaign for arts centre.
Served as staff resource to City’s Arts Centre Building Committee.
Initiated review of operations at Kelowna Community Theatre; Secured additional staff, aesthetic, and physical plant upgrades.
Advised Kelowna’s arts and cultural organizations on capacity building issues.
Conceived and led Kelowna’s cultural tourism initiative.
Organized and led Mayor, Council, and community delegation on weeklong tour of cultural tourism destinations in Pacific Northwest.
Authored framework strategy to develop Kelowna’s cultural tourism economy.
Established Cultural Tourism Committee of Kelowna Chamber of Commerce.
Secured cultural tourism marketing fund from City Council. Produced cultural tourism section for Kelowna Visitors Guide.
Organized cultural tourism conference facilitated by Dept. of Canadian Heritage.
Initiated heritage stabilization of Pandosy Mission (Kelowna’s original town site) in cooperation with Central Okanagan Regional District.
Made presentations on cultural tourism throughout community.
Liaised with Tourism Kelowna, Downtown Kelowna Association, Kelowna Chamber of Commerce, Economic Development Commission, provincial and federal agencies.
