Area I 47th Annual
                                         Leadership Conference

Greeting Area I Top Teens,

What a year!

First, I would like to thank the Top Teens for your hard work and commitment to this
excellent organization, that we call Top Teens of America. Without your dedication and
excitement, the goals we had set forth would not have been completed. Next, I would like to
thank all the Top Teens Advisor’s, for your dedication, and making sure your chapter teens
were completing numerous activities throughout your communities. Finally, I would like to thank all
officers: local, area, and national, for representing Area I with pride and honor.

As the 2017-2018 fiscal year ends, let us be reminded of all the fun times that has happened in our chapters and at Area. From
the Gala Ball, to our outing at Fort Sam, to the talent show, remember the laughs that transformed us to be closer together. As
this year comes to a close, and a new one approaches, continue to add new membership, continue to rep the “blue and white”,
and continue to be Top Teens of America.

Helping My Fellow Top Teens Be Top,
Teen Jalen Sorrells,

The Area One 47th Leadership Conference convened in San Antonio, TX, March 1-4,
2018 with 248 Teens registered for a weekend of leadership training, and celebration. The
theme for this year's conference was "Engaging in the Enhancement of Programs that Invest in the
Community through Volunteer Service." The Area One Leadership Conference is never a disappointment.
Teens and Advisors were treated to a weekend of activities and addresses from community speakers. Plenary sessions
offered Teen led presentations through a "It's in the Bag" activity; Network Bingo, which engaged each Teen in five minute
elevator speech with a minimum of twenty five Teens they did not previously know, spoken word entertainment and
completion in performing arts at our Literary Cafe'. Additionally, Teens had the unique learning opportunity on leadership
when visiting Fort Sam Houston U. S. Army Post for a museum tour of the historic site known as "Home of Army Medicine"
and "Home of the Combat Medic."

Our Me and My Mentor TTA and TLOD Awards Breakfast showcased individual Teens and Chapters that emulate Tops in
Service. All participating Teens and Chapters are instrumental in achieving ongoing success of our programs and projects,
however, there are some who exceeded in the showcasing their accomplishments of their events and service to their
communities. 10
