Top Ladies of Distinction Remembers…

Lady Nellie Batt Williams                                    made her heavenly

transition on April 4, 2018 at 10:36 a.m. at the age of 98.  a retired public educa-
tor, inducted into the Cardinal Chapter of Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated in

1990 and was the oldest active member of the Cardinal Chapter. Lady Williams served
as Cardinal Chapter Financial Secretary, Chairman of the Status of Women Committee,

a member of the Senior Citizens Committee, Scholarship Committee and the Member-
ship Committee.

                               Lady Williams received honors as a 2008 Cardinal Chapter Mother of the Year, Area
                               III Lady Peggy Lewis LeCompte Top Lady of the Year and second-place in the Lady
                               Jacquelyn Parker Officer of the Year Award. She was an active participant at the
                               Chapter, Area (Area III South Cluster) and National level, having attended meetings,
                               Clusters, Area Conferences and National meetings until her health failed her in 2017.
She was a member of the Lane Tabernacle Christian Methodist Episcopalian Church where she served as a mem-
ber of the Missionary Society, Bible Study Class, and other auxiliaries. She served as Class Leader and participated
as a member of several church sponsored clubs (many of which she has served as president).

She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and received her 60-year service/membership pin in February
2008. Lady Williams believed in giving to society. She was an active community volunteer with her special pro-
ject being that of collecting clothes for women and their children who reside temporarily in shelters.

Lady Williams is the mother of one son, Charles Batt.
