CHAVELA
We adopted Chavela at our local animal shelter during a Valentine’s
Day adoption event in February 2020. Since the beginning, she has
been the most loving companion, but as soon as she started
interacting with other dogs and people, we noticed there was an
issue. We connected with the shelter and discovered she was
confiscated from the previous owner for animal abuse.
So, we decided to enroll her in classes with a dog trainer
after an incident where she attacked another dog and bit
my dad. The animal shelter asked us to take her back, but
we didn’t. We loved her so much that we decided to give
her all the help she needed to leave all her traumas behind.
Now, Chavela goes to daycare every Thursday, where she plays
with other dogs and receives training. She is the joy of our home
and our adventure companion. We even took her one year to the
Lone Star Emmys! Submitted by:

Adopting Chavela has been one of the best decisions of our lives, Investigative/Consumer
and even when the road has not been easy, she is proof that second Multimedia Journalist
opportunities are worth it and that our past doesn’t define our future.
DAISY
Daisy (or Miss Daisy as I call her)
is our lovely mini goldendoodle! We got her during the
COVID-19 lockdown.
She loves to be outside and one of her favorite
things to do is play while we are mowing
the lawn. We always laugh because
she turns green.
