“I wish people would have a better understanding that the
LGBTQ+ community is an equal and integral part of the world. We
are not here to indoctrinate anyone. Rather, we are all here with
the common purpose of living authentic, meaningful lives. In this
pursuit, representation is crucial. Whether it is through visible
demonstrations, inclusive content, or supportive legislation, it

becomes a powerful tool in challenging the lack of tolerance,
respect, inclusion and kindness that there is in today’s social
climate. I believe this to be true not only of the LGBTQ+
community, but of all minority, marginalized groups.

My biggest advice to those who want to become allies is to stay
informed about the situations unfolding in your community,
especially when making decisions that challenge other people’s
lives. Don’t shy away from active support and participation. Don’t
assume that certain issues won’t affect you because they don’t
impact your life directly today; how we address matters today set
the precedent for how future issues will be handled. VOTE.”
