What selection criteria did the client use?
Minimum Tier III data centre, costs of Bricks and Mortar way higher than the modular approach, time to
commissioning- needed as part of the business plan to launch Hosting Facility by January 2013
Why did they choose the Cannon solution?
Proven high quality and engineering excellence
Why did they choose a MDC over container based solutions and others?
There were constraints as to width and length with containers. They could not fit the required number
of cabinets into one container.
The high temperatures during the summer months in Johannesburg result in containers delivering a
higher PUE and more cooling OpEx
What need / requirement is the MDC fulfilling?
Datacentrix needed a high availability, cost competitive solution which would allow them to provide
hosting space to clients in an very competitive market. They have a price advantage over other hosting
providers now because of the MDC.
