There was little available information on power steering fluids in comparison to brake fluids. No studies were found relating to the condition of used power steering fluids over time.
Interval-based Recommendations:
Common intervals ranged between 30,000 and 60,000 miles.
Condition-based Recommendations:
There was no information found on condition-based limits on power steering fluids. However, in- service fluids should generally meet OEM performance specifications such as:

Power steering fluid is composed of mineral oil and additives and is similar to common hydraulic fluids. Some vehicles use A TF for their P/SF. A key measure of P/SF degradation is a loss of the antioxidant additive. When the antioxidant additive is depleted, the oil is susceptible to oxidation. The oxidation of the base oil increases viscosity, acid and deposits. The limits below are based in part on condemning limits of mineral-based hydraulic fluid and recommended particle count limits (both hard contaminants such as dirt as well as soft contaminants like sludge) for P/SF in the
