             USAGE

              a) At the beginning of the sentence:


                        Despite/ In spite of + Noun phrase (concession), Clause



             Despite the heavy rain, I came to class.

             In spite of the heavy rain, I came to class.














             USAGE


               It rained heavily (concessive clause). I came to class (main clause)


              b) At the middle of the sentence:



                Clause although/ even though/ though/ while/ whereas Clause (concession)
                Clause despite/ in spite of + Noun phrase (concession)


             I came to class although it rained heavily.

             I came to class despite the heavy rain.
