Appeal for member support of OzHarvest
APPMA chairman Mark Dingley is encouraging the association’s members to continue supporting organisations that help the community.
The unprecedented impact of the Covid-19 crisis has seen OzHarvest face overwhelming need for food relief. With the pandemic immediately following the terrible bushfires over summer, OzHarvest’s resources were already limited. As a critical service, however, the organisation has delivered, and will continue to deliver, food throughout this crisis.
As those at OzHarvest say, in times of challenge what carries everybody through is hope. I could not agree more. Whether that’s hope inspired through acts of kindness, or hope strengthened by those receiving food who then know that someone cares. OzHarvest’s latest fundraising campaign is sorely needed and aptly named: #HereForHope.
“There are three ways APPMA members can help, and I know our membership will rally to continue helping others in the community,” Dingley says.
1You can donate to support OzHarvest’s vital food rescue services at www.hereforhope.com.au.
2Pledge to make a small donation in connection with continuing business activities, e.g. $1 from each transaction, which is actually two meals for those in need.
3Share the #HereForHope campaign with your customer networks to get word out there that OzHarvest needs financial help to keep operating. The OzHarvest team will also share stories of the impact your business wants to make.
Covid-19: APPMA provides vital industry resources
APPMA is a long-standing supporter of OzHarvest
Amid the Covid-19 crisis, the APPMA has been at the forefront of providing up-to-date information to its members and the wider industry.
APPMA members and businesses in the packaging and processing industry have benefited from access to accurate information from APPMA on Australian restrictions, policies and support, be it at a federal, or state and territory level.
All APPMA channels for communication have also been expanded to include information available on the APPMA website.
APPMA general manager Michael Moran explains that the association has curated an in-depth, state-by-state guide to assist members and the industry to navigate federal and state government policies, subsidies and restrictions related to Covid-19.
“The existence of, and compliance with, state border controls; access to support services; and available state and federal subsidies are some of the key topics covered in the guide,” Moran says.
The document is based on information available from various federal and state government resources as of 1 April 2020. The APPMA is updating this guide on a regular basis as more information is made available.
The APPMA has also set up a Covid-19 page on its website. All updates in regards to the guide and any communications that it receives from federal and state government bodies, will be uploaded directly to this page.
WEBINAR SERIES
“The Covid-19 threat has forced the world to re-think how we operate and live,” Moran says. “In Australia, maintaining business operations, supporting staff members and restructuring work environments is challenging enough. Remaining up to date with ever-changing federal and state government subsidies, policies and restrictions just adds another level of complexity for employers and employees.”
To assist members and the wider industry to navigate the complex challenges, APPMA has launched a partner-based webinar series.
“The series will comprise experienced, specialised and respected presenters providing information, answers and support on a range of topics aimed at assisting businesses and individuals to manage during what we all hope will be a once-in-a-lifetime period,” Moran says.
