COBOTS AID SHIFT FROM REPETITIVE TO REWARDING TASKS
Seven UR10 collaborative robots (cobots) were deployed at Sanofi’s Tours site in France. Their integration into packaging lines helped meet productivity requirements and reduced load-carrying and operator movements in palletising boxes.
Thanks to the installation of the Univeral Robots (UR) cobots, Sanofi increased its production and improved health and safety related to the reduction of musculoskeletal disorders of its operators. Employees can now focus on higher value-added tasks.
Darrell Adams, head of Southeast Asia Oceania for UR, said the same success can be seen in local markets.
“Sanofi wanted to reduce the load carried by the operators working on the line. While one cardboard box wasn’t very heavy, lifting a total of 300 to 700 kg per person per day quickly added up,” Adams said.

NORD INTRODUCES NEW UNIVERSAL MOTOR
Nord Drivesystems has introduced its new Universal Motor, with 20 models in the range, with power extending from 0.12kW to 45kW, depending on the model.
The Nord Universal Motor is certified to CE, UL CSA, CCC, ISI, and EAC, and meets appropriate minimum efficiency levels to ensure stability for markets, including Europe, the US, Canada, Russia, China, India, and others, according to the company.
The three-phase Nord Universal motor can be used with four standard voltage supplies, which are noted on the motor nameplate: 380V 50Hz, 415V 50Hz, and 460V 60Hz. It can also be used at 440V 60 Hz, and 480V 60Hz.
The motors are available in 4-pole configurations and the motors suit IEC frame sizes from 63 to 225. They are available in B3 foot, B5 flange, or B14 face mounting. Also, it can be supplied as NEMA C-face and NEMA foot mount. The motor can also be mounted directly to Nord gearboxes for a compact and efficient drive solution.
As standard, the motor is protected to IP55, is totally enclosed fan-cooled TEFC, and has class F insulation.
Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) has introduced a new version of the Toyota Levio LPE200 electric pallet jack: the LPE 200B.
The new pallet jack comes with many standard features including pin-code entry, safety gates, speed control, heavy-duty load wheels, and fixed battery-locking. Also, TMHA said, it will be warehouse-fleet-management- system compatible.
TMHA product manager warehouse equipment Michael Marks said he expects the Toyota LPE200B electric pallet jack to be more attractive to many customers. “It's an entry-level version and as such will be more competitively priced,” he said.
“It will appeal to customers who don't need all the available options and who
would prefer a more standardised unit for a lower price-point.”
He said the models are more alike than dissimilar. “The LPE200 and the new LPE200B are essentially the same machines, having all the standard equipment and
usual service and support. “The only difference is
that the 200B comes as-is; there are fewer additional options available for it.”
TMHA is a member of the Australian Packaging & Processing Machinery Association.
KRONES TRADE-FAIR STAND GOES VIRTUAL
The 2020 trade fair year has so far been characterised by postponements and cancellations. Interpack has had to be rescheduled to February 2021 to protect the people involved and to slow the spread of Covid-19. Krones found a solution.
In order to provide insight into its products for the packaging industry in this time of Covid-19 lockdowns, Krones created a virtual trade fair stand.
It has rendered its exhibits for Interpack accessible as a digital experience – faithful to the original and in 3D. The virtual Interpack began on 28 April and ended on 30 April. It provided answers to the questions of how currently predominant resource consumption can be guided into a sustainable circular economy, and what options the industrial sector has for accomplishing this transformation.
Visitors to the virtual stand were not left unassisted. For questions, wishes and suggestions, stand support staff were available in a live-chat format.
