SIDEL PUTS END-TO-END IN SPOTLIGHT
ProPak Asia is proving to be an important platform for Sidel to address South East Asian manufacturers in the beverage, food, home and personal care sectors and to discuss the challenges they face, coupled with the opportunities they witness in their respective markets.
Dominique Martin, VP beverage equipment sales South East Asia & Pacific at Sidel, gave PKN this feedback on the show.
“ProPak Asia is one of the key exhibitions worldwide for Sidel. It is the place where the roadmap for the industry in South East Asia over the coming years is decided upon, driving business and innovation. Accordingly, to us at Sidel, it is not only the right place to introduce our innovations to all our stakeholders in the region but also an important platform to meet them and to receive their vital feedback with regard to our latest innovations.
“One of the topics that was on top of everyone’s mind at this year’s show was sustainability, and for good reason: the ‘linear economy’ approach we are now applying will not allow the 10 billion world inhabitants expected by 2050 to enjoy the quality of life currently appreciated in mature countries.
“Our goal at Sidel is to provide our customers with more eco-friend- ly packaging and packaging production process solutions to perfectly accommodate their needs. Together with our ‘End to End’ approach – a 360° view at the production process that aims at a comprehensive response encompassing primary, secondary and tertiary packaging
– we highlighted a few solutions that all address the growing demand for more sustainable packaging: Sidel BoostPRIME, our Aseptic Combi Predis, as well as our latest Sidel EvoDECO labelling solutions; plus the latest additions to our filling portfolio, EvoFILL Can and Glass.
“Among the most impactful trends is the growth of environmentally- aware and health-conscious consumers who are leading evermore busy lifestyles. In the beverage industry, for example, we clearly see a switch from carbonated soft drinks to healthier, hydrating options based on natural or organic ingredients with on-the-go pack sizes (smaller than 300ml formats) predicted to be on a growth trajectory. In keeping with these trends, we continue developing solutions to protect quality and safety of the products while reducing producers’ carbon footprint. The number of visitors to our stand and the level of interest shown, particularly in the new developments that we are bringing to the market, was again very encouraging this year.”

“You can’t turn up and expect everything to fall into place at once. The main challenge is to find a good partner who will give you support on the ground,” said Becher.
The star attraction on the stand was the highly versatile ‘demo-chef’ cooking system which allows food processors to mix, cook and cool product under atmospheric, pres- sure, or vacuum conditions.
“Clients who heard about the machine from us last year have returned this year to see us when they heard we would have a demo unit on show,” Ham said.
First time exhibitor Lantech was “extremely impressed” with the show when it visited last year, and too decided it would be worthwhile participating in the Australian pavilion. It was not disappointed. Asia Pacific sales director David Fullerton explained that the compa- ny sells its stretch wrapping equip- ment through distributors in SE Asia and already has a strong presence in the region, but believed the time was right to build its brand on the ground by showcasing first hand the quality and durability of its equipment and the advantages it offers manufactur- ers in ensuring products get from the factory floor to the retailer’s door in “pristine condition”.
On the day PKN visited the Lantech stand, the company had fielded over 100 solid enquiries for the second day running, and VP Sales for Lantech USA, Darryl Gee, said the show had exceeded his expectations from a visitor quality point of view, as well as by how seamlessly the exhibition set-up had been executed. ■
ProPak Asia 2020 will take place from 17-20 June at BITEC, Bangkok.
