SIAL PARIS EMBRACES ALTERNATIVES
The SIAL Paris food innovation exhibition is expected to draw 7200 exhibitors and 160,000 visitors this October, and will include some interesting new features.
This year, the expo will have an Alternative Food Forum, which is described as “a show within a show”, and a “rising startups space” showcasing around 50 budding European businesses.
The Alternative Food Forum has been created in recognition of the major phenomenon of healthier food that is also more respectful of nature and of animal well-being. The forum will be housed in a dedicated sector and will have its own set of events, and its own signposting and decor, and more than 300 exhibitors have already signed up, according to organisers.
"SIAL has always been at the vanguard in food matters, and this year we wish to go even further with the alternative food sector," SIAL's network director Nicolas Trentesaux says.
Over the five days of the exhibition, conferences and roundtables will be run on the latest innovations and opportunities, with topics to include superfoods, clean label, agriculture, sustainable development, and animal wellbeing.
The rising start-ups space has been created in partnership with the incubators of the Idefi-Ecotrophelia network. Organisers will select the most innovative start-ups to exhibit within its FUTURE LAB area, pitch on the set of SIAL TV, and gain visibility for their projects.
SIAL Paris takes place from 21 to 25 October at Paris-Nord Villepinte, and is being organised by Comexposium Group.
