  FIONA JOHNSON –
PARTS MANAGER
MCCARTHY PANEL WORKS, MACKAY QLD Like all parts managers Fiona Johnson s undeniably the busiest person in the shop. McCarthy Panel Works is a large business with many heavy hits to r
pair and so also a lot of parts. Nominator Andrea McCarthy says
she has been told the parts depart- ment is larger than some of the deal- erships and they have on average four to five parts interpreters. Fiona pro- cesses all the orders, she undertakes all the receiving, manually checking the deliveries to maintain accuracy. Then she calmly contacts suppliers for any damages, missing parts oversup- ply, or incorrect supply and sees that the issues are rectified promptly and all without fanfare. The technicians and estimators, many of whom were started before the “pocket rocket” as she has been dubbed, understand the value of having a parts manager that is ‘all over it’.
Working with Vehicles, has presented a steep learning curve from previous roles, however Fiona’s ability to apply her knowledge of stock control has seen her become increasingly successful in her role. She has implemented some ma-

jor changes to the parts department, the most notable being the label areas for storage which work well for our areas. She has also implemented daily update emails from suppliers that addresses all outstanding orders so we are as up to date as possible with any parts issues.

having managed a number different re- tail departments. Fiona has also under- taken additional training completing ad- ministration I-Car Courses, and more recently, the PPG Lean management training 5’s for efficiencies and waste re- duction. The information learned has been employed throughout her role to improve parts flow.
