AUSPACK PREVIEW
Insignia gets its head in the cloud
FAMILY-OWNED labelling and coding supplier Insignia (Stand G150) will focus on Industry 4.0 and cloud solutions at AUSPACK 2019.
Insignia is the sole Australian distributor of Domino marking and coding solutions, and will bring the Domino Cloud software
to its stand. According to Blair Kietzmann, head of sales for Domino at Insignia, the solution can help boost customers’ uptime.
“Through the Domino Cloud and a connected printer, we are moving from a reactive to a proactive support structure, providing a level of support never
experienced before in our field. By analysing real time and accurate machine data, we can predict potential line stopping events before they occur and remedy these before they impact line performance,” he says.
“If the machine does experience a critical fault our Help Desk is automatically alerted and can actively resolve the fault over the phone or deploy field support armed with the knowledge to enact a first-time fix, reducing the impact on our customer.”
Kietzmann says that as an Australian family-owned business, Insignia understands the impact unplanned downtime can have.
“In a country as large as Australia, being able to remotely support both our metropolitan and regional customers more efficiently and effectively means we can ensure our solutions are running optimally, maximising performance and reliability, driving down costs and improving OEE.”

production process in the food and beverage industries, according to Kietzmann, and continuous ink jet coders are one of the most widely-used technologies printing this critical information. It is therefore important that their performance is being effectively monitored and optimised.
Thanks to the emergence of Industry 4.0, IIoT and cloud technology, he says, this is now becoming more achievable, and site managers don’t necessarily need to be onsite to monitor machine and line performance.
Advancements in this technology, Kietzmann says, provide manufacturers with the opportunity to monitor factory processes and gather real time accurate data on key performance indicators from any connected device. This in turn empowers them to make more informed business decisions, maximising uptime and overall equipment effectiveness.
Insignia will be demonstrating the power of these solutions on itsstandatAUSPACK. ✷
Eriez tackles unwanted metals
ERIEZ (Stand H130) is combining its Xtreme metal detector with ProGrade magnets to maximise the amount of metal contaminants that can be detected and removed from products.
The Xtreme metal detector can pick up small amounts of both ferrous and non-ferrous metal contaminants in sanitary and non-sanitary conditions. According to the manufacturer, this metal detector line has been optimised to strike a balance between absolute detection of all metal contaminants and the elimination of false signals that can slow down production.
When combined with ProGrade magnetic separators, engineered for the removal of ferrous metal and work-hardened stainless steel, the arrangement offers higher
product yields and maximum protection, says Eriez.
Working in conjunction, the Eriez ProGrade magnets remove the ferrous contamination while the Eriez Xtreme Metal Detector focuses on non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, copper, brass and
stainless steel, the company says. According to Eriez, together these products offer the greatest
protection against dangerous, unwanted metals in product or process flow, and ensures metal contamination is minimised while maximising final product
quality and purity.
This approach will help
customers avoid expensive equipment downtime and product recalls while ensuring they remain in compliance with HACCP International Food Standards, Eriez claims. ✷
