San Churro takes a dip
Callebaut’s new RB1 has been dubbed the fourth official chocolate variety, and San Churro is among the first to embrace it.
SPANISH-INSPIRED chocolateria San Churro has become the first Australian retailer to launch a new ruby chocolate menu and limited-edition immersive dining experience.
Called San Churro’s Real Ruby Chocolate Experience, the ticketed event features desserts created using pure Ruby couverture chocolate in a one-hour, two-part experience.
“Ruby is the newest chocolate discovery in more than 80 years and arguably the biggest thing to happen to the confectionery industry this millennium,” San Churro CEO Giro Maurici says.
“To be the first Australian retailer to roll out Rubychocolatenationwideisamajorcoup.”
As part of the new menu launch, chocolate enthusiasts can also expect exciting twists on signature favourites, including traditional Spanish churros paired with Ruby chocolate as well as a Churros For Two Chocolate Journey, which will see customers offered white, milk, dark and Ruby chocolate – the brand’s full lineup of couverture chocolate.
A number of new Ruby retail items will also be on sale at the chocolateria, including ¡delicioso! Ruby Rocky Road, a selection of artesian-designed Ruby truffles and Ruby chocolate cooking buds for those who want to take the flavour homewiththem. ✷
Kit Kat snaps it up
IN January, Nestlé Japan launched the limited-edition KitKat Chocolatory Sublime Ruby, the world’s first item made with ruby chocolate, and 5000 bars became available in South Korea and Japan.
Then in May, Sublime Ruby and Black Label Ruby varieties began retailing at KitKat Chocolatory in Melbourne Central, Australia. The batch-baked wafer finger is covered with premium Ruby chocolate, while the Black Label variety is crafted in-store. The eight-finger bar is topped with Ruby chocolate and sweet dried strawberries, raspberries and caramelised meringue.
Nestlé Oceania CEO Sandra Martinez said the new chocolate would help grow the international confectionery brand worldwide.
“We are proud that KitKat Chocolatory is the first brand to offer chocolate lovers a taste of this new chocolate variety,” she said.
“We’ve secured the exclusive rights to be the first to launch Ruby worldwide, leveraging Nestlé’s speed and agility in innovation.
“Following the phenomenal responses we have had in Japan, Korea and the UK, we expect it to be an absolute hit here in Australia.”
