TIME TO ACT ON CLIMATE
Australia is one of a long list of countries that need to take drastic action to meet the goals of the Paris Climate Agreement, according to research think tank Climate Analytics.
Bill Hare of Climate Analytics said most countries are not on track to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Climate Analytics partners on a project called the Climate Action Tracker, which monitors the impact of climate policies in 32 countries that produce about 80% of global emissions.
Action Tracker estimates that based on countries’ current policies, temperatures will likely rise by more than 5 degrees Fahrenheit by the end of the century, which could be catastrophic.
According to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, meeting the Paris goals is still feasible. But Hare said urgent action is required.✺
HYDROCARBON HVAC SYSTEMS are now a reality and gaining momentum in Australia, according to Polaris Technologies managing di- rector, Tony Power.
The Sydney-based company has released a range of ducted units using M60 an Australian natural refrigerant by Engas.

10kW unit from Polaris Technologies.
The units are also unique in that they do not require an outdoor unit.
“These machines are becoming very popular with specifiers and architects, because they overcome an increasing problem of where to lo- cate condensing units,” Power said.
“The concept is simple we just duct in con- denser air. The result is similar to a water source
packaged system only air cooled.
“This overcomes a myriad of installa- tion issues, we just need air inlet and discharge grilles on the façade of the building.” The systems have been in- stalled in a campus at Melbourne Univer- sity, commercial buildings and film pro- duction companies and are aimed at the light
commercial market.
“With the Polaris range there is no need for
ugly outdoor units or pipe work,” Power said.
