When size really does matter
TERALBA INDUSTRIES HAS created the largest Accu-Therm Plate Heat Exchanger ever to be designed and assembled in Australia.
Teralba sales engineer, Greg Haak, said the heat exchanger stands over 3 metres high and 4 metres long.
“This huge Accu-Therm ATS3000 Plate Heat Exchanger handles flow rates of up to 2.1 million litres per hour and has a heat transfer capacity, in excess of 70,000kw,” he said.
“It will be used in a steel manufacturing plant to cool bearings and associated equipment.
“This exchanger proves that whatever size heat transfer applica- tion you may have, we can handle it.
“Innovation is fundamental to our business and is at the centre of everything we do.”
For 35 years, Teralba has been manufacturing innovative solutions for the fluid process equipment sector.
“We can produce our own patented designs for industrial mixers, tube in tube and shell and tube heat exchangers along with Accu- therm plate heat exchangers.”
Haak said Teralba engi- neers can also create cus- tomer-specific solutions through extensive consulta- tion with clients, ensuring equipment is perfectly tai- lored to meet specifications.

The PENSUM Air uses the refrigerant R-454B which has a GWP value of 466.
Air-cooled chiller updates
ENGIE REFRIGERATION GMBH has relaunched its air- cooled PENSUM AIR.
The revised models became available January 20, 2020 and are designed for mid-sized office build- ings. The air-cooled Pensum chiller has been part of the ENGIE Refrig- eration portfolio since 2013. Mar- ket requirements have changed since then which is why the PEN- SUM AIR uses the future-proof re- frigerant R-454B, which has good thermodynamic properties and a low GWP value of 466. That means it falls below the average GWP of <500, the value that the F-gas Reg- ulation stipulates from 2030.
Compared to the previous refrig- erant R-410A, R-454B can lower CO2 emissions by 78 per cent – without affecting refrigeration ca- pacity. In addition, the PENSUM AIR already meets the require- ments of the Ecodesign Directive for Tier 2, which will come into force January 1, 2021.
ENGIE Refrigeration CEO, Jochen Hornung, said the new compressor in the PENSUM makes it more effi- cient than its predecessor model.
He said it is also available in four different lines – Basic Cool, Free Cool, Super Silent and Reversible Heat – with a refrigeration performance be- tween 50 and 400 kilowatts.
