KIM MILLS
OF DEFENCE COMMUNITY ORGANISATION
Kim is the Assistant Director of Transition for Employment (T4E) for the Defence Community Organisation and leads a team of dynamic reformists delivering the program to complex wounded, ill
and injured members transitioning from the ADF. Kim draws on her 25 years experience in leading
teams and growing her own companies in the private sector to develop and empower innovative teams.
Kim’s previous research into veterans transition expe- rience provided a foundation for the T4E solution.
TANJA JOHNSTON
OF AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL VETERANS ARTS MUSEUM
Tanja is a multidisciplinary artist, arts educator, art therapist and Founder of the Australian National Veterans Arts Museum (ANVAM). Tanja is ANVAM’s Head of Arts Programs and Executive Board Member.
She specialises in supporting current and former members of the ADF, veterans, emergency service personnel and families, facilitating Arts based engagement and recovery programs.
Tanja was awarded Museums Australia (Victoria) 2018 Excellence Award (Volunteer)
KARYN HINDER
OF WORKING SPIRIT
After 25 years military service, Karyn launched Working
Spirit. Working Spirit fills the employment gap by connecting business with veterans through Military to Civilian Career Summits, Business Networking Events and a Corporate
Fellowship Work Experience Program.
Karyn is passionate about supporting our veterans
into employment pathways post their service career.
In July 2019 ,Working Spirit will be launching a new arm called WOVEN - Women Veteran Employment Network.
Karyn is still serving as a current reservist.
JENNIFER WITTWER
OF STEORRA CONSULTING
A military veteran with 38 years’ experience Jennifer supports global efforts to ensure more effective and sustainable
peace and security through the inclusion of women at all levels. Her more recent roles in the ADF included
Navy Women’s Strategic Adviser, Gender Adviser to NATO in Afghanistan, Director National Action Plan on Women, Peace and Security, and a policy specialist on peacekeeping and sexual exploitation and abuse with UN Women in New York.
PETTY OFFICER KERRY COUSINS
OF RAN
Kerry joined the Royal Australian Navy in 2003, qualifying as a submariner in 2005. She has served at sea in five of the six Boats within the Collins Class Fleet, been valet to Commander Australian Fleet and worked within the Joint Logistics Unit. Promoted to Petty Officer in 2016, Kerry led the Submarine Qualification Team until 2019, being recognised with an Australia Day Medallion for exceptional leadership. In her current role, Kerry directly
supports Commander Submarine Force in the delivery of cultural initiatives.
