Global interest in Aussie design
AN AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM that does not require any outdoor unit may sound strange, but Polaris Technologies based in NSW have de- veloped just that.
The Polaris Hideaway unit is a ducted system that looks just like any other conventional system. All that is required with Polaris Hideaway Units is to duct away condenser air to outside
the building.
Polaris technologies director, Tony Power, said
the systems are an Australian innovation that is gaining broad acceptance from architects and specifi- ers in Australia and overseas. Available in 3.5 kW and 10kW the units are extreme- ly efficient utilising M60 Hy- drocarbon Refrigerant and
are MEPS approved.

“Installation is plug and play, just bolt this unit to a slab and that’s it,” Power said.
“Connect power to the unit and connect the Wi-Fi enabled wired controller and that’s the in- stallation done, easy.”
Known as the Hideaway systems, they have been designed to fill a gap in the heritage and apartment market where location of outdoor units is becoming increasingly difficult.
“The simple concept of ducting condenser air
inlet and discharge from outside the building is not new, but Polaris have really simplified this concept,” Power said.
The 3.5 kw units has been engineered to just 300mm high for tight spaces and the 10kW unit is built in a split format offering a high degree of flexibility for installers.
“An efficient inverter plug and play system without the hassle of pipework and a messy out- door unit, how good is that?” he added.
