Australia were on the Mori stand. Mori has exhibited before in the seafood section of SIAL China, but had felt a bit lost in that part of the exhibition, the pair said. It was the first time at SIAL China for Australian Fresh Dairy, and director Paul Hayes said some amazing contacts were made at the show. The new company, which is based in the Adelaide Hills, is just launching in Woolworths, as well as China and other Asian countries, and has just received official authorisation
6 to export its new YoMate yoghurt to China.
Laurent Boillon was in the Victorian section for the third time at SIAL China. The Laurent premium bakery brand is currently shipping product to China, but it would need to establish a manufacturing base there if sales were to grow, Boillon said. The company, which is looking to market its products to the luxury market, currently has one employee in Shanghai who is looking after hotels, Disneyland and some supermarkets.
Jimmy Ellis, co-founder and director of First Press Coffee, was on the stand in the Victorian section. This was the company’s first time in China, and Ellis said First Press had been able to test the market and receive feedback, and may as a result tweak its packaging to better suit the market.
