3. Thecollarattheopening needs parallel surfaces so the lid will fit perfectly.
4. Therimwasturnedto3mm before sanding the interior.
5. Don’tfinishthetenonyetas it may change size before the lid is cut to match.
6. Verniercalipersestablish the opening required for a jamb fit chuck.
7. The base can now be pushed firmly into place.
8. Turn the base to final shape and sand through to 320 grit.
9. I add a couple of V-grooves to add my name and timber type.
10. The carrier is now shaped to become the lid of the box.
11. The base was prised free and the inner shoulder of the lid enlarged slightly.
12. After sanding only the domed surface a couple of V-grooves were cut and a friction polish applied.
13. A carrier with a tenon was turned onto which the lid was pushed into place.
