WORK HARD ON YOURSELF
BUSINESS COACH BEN FEWTRELL EXPLAINS THE BENEFITS OF SELF DEVELOPMENT FOR BUSINESS SUCCESS.
B ACK AT THE BEGINNING OF my entrepreneurial journey, I spent a lot of my time and money investing in myself and my own education. One of my greatest in- spirations was a fellow called Jim Rohn, he was a very well-known speaker. One of his greatest sayings that I have always loved is "work harder on yourself than you do on your job", he also said, "work hard and you'll make a living, work hard
on yourself and you'll make a fortune!" After more than 20 years of business coaching and working with business own- ers one of the biggest limiting factors of any business’s growth is the business owner. There's so much more that you need to learn when it comes to building and grow- ing a business. A lot of these lessons you'll get along your journey, however, an easy way to avoid making a lot of mistakes is to
learn from others.
If you haven't already put together a
plan of action for your own self-develop- ment for 2022, use this as a list of inspira- tional activities to include to make sure you're working on yourself.
ATTEND BUSINESS
WORKSHOPS
One of the easiest and most cost-effec- tive ways to learn more about business is to attend a business workshop. There are literally hundreds (if not thousands) of these workshops available all around the world, and many of them are either free or have a very small entrance fee. You can also attend these workshops on- line. Some of the best workshops are held overseas, which means that these are after hours for us here in Australia which I find works well.
Work hard and you'll make a living, work hard on yourself and you'll make a fortune!”
LISTEN TO PODCASTS AND BOOKS
One of the easiest ways to consume infor- mation is to listen to a podcast. There are hundreds of podcasts about business. Naturally I'm going to suggest that you make sure you listen to ‘The Edge’, Paint & Panel's very own podcast.
I think the best way is to jump into your favourite podcast player and do a search using the words business, entrepreneur,
marketing, or leadership as a starting point. Over time the podcast player will get used to what you listen to and start making recommendations. You could also ask oth- ers in your industry what they are listening to.
I was never much of a reader, in fact, I struggled to get through a book without getting distracted. Audiobooks have to- tally changed my world. I can go through
