20 YEARS OF SATA DIGITAL SPRAY GUNS
                          A
T THE TIME OF ITS LAUNCH,
Sata Digital technology was intended to be revolutionary. Today, having a digital inlet air pressure gauge built into the gun
handle is the accepted benchmark.
Back in 2001, if you had a mobile phone, it likely did not have a colour dis- play, internet access or a camera. At the same time, flat-screen TVs were still seri- ously expensive and a touchscreen info- tainment system in the average car was years away. However, what you could get was a Sata spray gun, complete with an integrated, digital inlet air pressure gauge
conveniently built into the handle.
The Sata Digital was about giving paint-
ers convenience and accuracy, particular- ly when it comes to the application of modern refinish basecoat systems. Even the slightest deviation in the process can negatively impact the result so being able to accurately adjust the air pressure plays an important role for the reproducibility of colour tones and effects and ensure a smooth, trouble-free workflow.
A Sata Digital model has the gauge protected inside the gun, thus allowing inlet flow pressure to be easily and pre- cisely set for each and every job.
The Satajet X 5500 Digital is available from approved Sata distributors. A Satajet X 5500 setup guide poster is also available by contacting a PPG territory manager.
CURVED WELDING
                HELMET LENS FROM 3M
                THE 3M SPEEDGLAS WELDING HELMET
G5-02 features a curved auto-darkening welding lens, considered to be the world’s first. The Speedglas curved glass technology has been developed from over 20 years of research.
The helmet serves to maximise natu- ral range of vision by following the shape of the head to create a 100 per cent wider field of view. This, when allied with 3M TrueView technology, creates the optics for precision viewing.
Designed specifically for TIG welding, the G5-02 lens allows wider views but in a slim, lightweight helmet. The curved shape of the welding lens arcs closely around the face to increase peripheral vi- sion, improve overall weight distribution and narrow the profile of the helmet.
The Speedglas G5-02 lens also deliv- ers advanced electronics, with four arc
sensors that will detect an arc down to an industry-leading single amp. This en- sures the lens can reliably react to the stable arcs offered by the latest high-end inverter based TIG machines. G5-02 is suitable across the entire spectrum of arc welding processes. The auto-darken- ing lens is certified using the same standardised impact resistance tests used for traditional flat ADLs – the G5- 02 welding lens and protection plate both meet AS/NZS1337.1 standards.
Finally, the Speedglas G5-02 is Blue- tooth enabled, so you can pair your smartphone to your welding lens via the 3M app. You can use your phone to pro- gram up to four memory modes, each with its own settings for dark shades, sensitivity and delay. The app also lets you record a maintenance log for your helmet, as well as access user manuals.
