The streets are animated and built with small black houses. You have this
impression of greyness during the day (and night), which is reinforced by the
smoke coming out of the factories’ “cheminées”. When the night falls, the place
becomes dull “à la Marcel Carné” (except for the main streets) with dark foggy
alleys, illuminated by small gaslights, which creates shadows. On the other side,
the insides of the house are stylish and comfortable.

Most people (even the humblest) have the television, a comfortable sofa
situated by a fire place. Everyone is ‘at home’ in Burnley, except for some noisy
young gangs who come to the cinemas, pubs and snack bars. (Please note that
alcohol is prohibited while having a meal).
The yellow lights in the streets give this ‘pale’ impression of people who are
passing by, creating an atmosphere similar to ‘life within a faculty of medicine’.
But our “Rmois” (people from Reims) will be able to relax in an ultra-modern
hotel, the ‘Keirby’ (recently opened, only three months ago), which dominates
with its contrasting aspect, in relation to the hard-working appearance of the
City. Our people will be able to enjoy home cooking as the chef Mr Molinari and
his assistant M. Ricaud, both French, will be able to satisfy their desires.
When the time of the game approaches, our French champions will go to the
stadium (500m away from the town centre) to their modern changing room,
famous for its cleanliness and extreme hygiene, clear and well ventilated.
There is a medical service with massage tables, oxygen baths and X-ray
treatment.
The tunnel of access is made of concrete and leads directly to the pitch, which
is only a few steps away. What will they see then? A nice lawn and four
dilapidated wooden stands (square shape) standing on three different sides, all
covered with a ‘barn roof’. The roof edges have a wooden lacework design, which
gives the impression of a certain luxury, although there are a lot of posts, which
are blocking the view of the spectators.
