        Gary J. Becker, M.D., Named to
        Board of Directors of Baptist

        appointment of Gary J. Becker, M.D., to the Board of Directors                                editorial@southfloridahospitalnews.com
        of Baptist Health Medical Group.  A retired interventional
        radiologist, Dr. Becker is a renowned educator, researcher,
        author and pioneer in the development of new vascular

          He is an internationally recognized leader, serving as the
        Executive Director of the American Board of Radiology for nearly seven years. Dr. Becker
        served as Board Chair and President of one of the largest medical organizations in the
        world, the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), receiving its Gold Medal in
        2014 after serving eight years on its Board of Directors, with a focus on its scientific port-
        folio.
          Dr. Becker has held several key leadership positions at Baptist Health during his career,
        including Director of Interventional Radiology, Assistant Medical Director, and Medical
        Director of Clinical Research at Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. Other notable career
        highlights include working as branch chief of Image Guided Intervention in the Division
        of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis at the National Cancer Institute as well as professor
        of the Interventional Section at the University of Arizona.  Dr. Becker earned his under-
        graduate and medical degrees from Indiana University, where he also completed his res-
        idency in Diagnostic Radiology and served on the faculty as Professor and Chief of the
        Vascular Section.

        Dr. John Ragheb Elected President of
        the American Society of Pediatric
        Neurosurgeons

          Dr. John Ragheb, Director of the Division of Pediatric
        Neurosurgery and Chief of the Department of Surgery at
        Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, has been elected President of the
        American Society of Pediatric Neurosurgeons (ASPN).
          Dr. Ragheb obtained his B.A. and M.A. with Honors from
        Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD and then went on   Dr. John Ragheb
        to the University of Michigan School of Medicine in Ann
        Arbor. He completed his residency in neurological surgery at the University of Maryland
        Hospital in Baltimore, and then completed a fellowship in pediatric neurosurgery at New
        York University Medical Center, Bellevue Hospital in New York City. Dr. Ragheb is board
        certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and the American Board of
        Pediatric Neurological Surgery. He is currently the Chairman of the Neurosurgery
        Specialty Committee for the American College of Surgeons.
          He recently completed a 10-year term as a Director on the American Board of Pediatric
        Neurological Surgery, five of which he served as the Secretary-Treasurer.  Dr. Ragheb has
        also served on the American Academy of Pediatrics, Section on Neurological Surgery
        executive committee, including a term as Chair.Dr. John Ragheb, Director of the Division
