Happy Holidays and LEGISLATIVE SESSION BEGINS
JANUARY 8
Come On 2019! JANUARY 10
4:00 - 6:30 PM
Where has 2018 gone? It seems like yesterday when we did our program on healthcare on PROVIDER SPOTLIGHT
the horizon, the healthcare summit on emergency management, and then our golf tourna-
ment. Well, we had little time to rest in 2018, and 2019 will be even busier! JANUARY 23
The SFHHA’s Annual Meeting and Dinner was held on December 6 and a good time was 12:00 - 2:00 PM
ACADEMIC TALKS
had by all who attended. Our Chair, David Wagner, had the opportunity to share with our
members what the Association has done in 2018 and we also had the opportunity to recognize

several of our members for their service.
8: 30 - 10: 00 AM
For the first time, the SFHHA Board of Directors supported the creation of several award

categories that allowed us to showcase member organizations and individuals, who in the

opinion of our Board and staff, went above and beyond in 2018 in supporting the activities FEBRUARY 15
of the Association. 8:30 AM - 12:00 PM
In no particular order, the awards were for the 2018 Member Organization of the Year with the criterion being member partic- EDUCATIONAL ROUNDTABLE
ipation in SFHHA events and both financial and time support of the Association. In 2018, Baptist Health South Florida was the (PARTICIPANT ONLY EVENT)
winner in a very close competition!
The Association also wanted to recognize Board participation and created the 2018 Board Member of the Year. The criteria used FEBRUARY 20
to select this winner included participation at board meetings, participation at SFHHA events, and participation in our education- HIT EDUCATIONAL EVENT

Center, University of Miami Health System edged out two other Board members by a single point!
5:30 - 7:30 PM
Another category our Board asked us to create was the 2018 Unsung Hero award. I know that you see this every year, one per-

son who quietly is involved in just about every activity, is an officer of several organizations, and is the first person that you think
of when you need help. The criteria we used to select this winner was participation at our events, presence and influence at our MARCH 14
Board meetings/committee meetings, overall support, and their willingness to refer potential members to staff at the SFHHA. The 4:00 - 6:30 PM
winner of this award (and by a wide margin) was Mr. Charles Felix, Publisher, Hospital News and Healthcare Report. PROVIDER SPOTLIGHT
Our last award was for the 2018 Member of the Year. The selection criteria for this award was based on participation at our
events as either an attendee or participant and their financial support to SFHHA by way of sponsorships or program support. The MARCH 20
winner of this award was Mr. Angelo Pirozzi, Partner- Healthcare Center for Excellence & Innovation, BDO. 12:00 - 2:00 PM
This has been a fun year and we have already set our calendar for 2019. Please go to our events page and begin to enter these ACADEMIC TALKS
events into your calendar to ensure that you don’t miss anything! (https://sfhha.com/events-page/#!calendar)
Last year went by in a flash and 2019 is going to be even busier! Want to be on stage next year during our awards ceremony,
