The otters learned that disagreements can lead to clever trickery, emphasizing the
importance of finding fair solutions together. The wolf's cunning teaches us that
cooperation and compromise prevent others from taking advantage of our disputes.
This tale highlights the value of working together and sharing fairly to avoid being
outwitted.
Once upon a time, in a forest, a wolf
shared his desire for fresh fish with his
mate. His mate kindly offered to fetch
some from the river. Down by the river
bank, they spotted two otters hunting for
fish. The otters saw a big fish and eagerly
jumped into the water to catch it.
One otter said, "Let's divide the fish
equally." The other otter insisted on
having the head, leading to a dispute . The
wolf overheard and approached the otters,
offering to mediate. The otters asked the wolf, "Dear wolf, could you please
help us divide the fish?" The wolf agreed and, cunningly , cut off the tail for
one otter, gave the head to the other, and kept the best middle part for
himself. He said, "You can each enjoy your share without quarrelling," and
quickly ran away with the best portion.
The otters stood there, realising they had been tricked by the cunning
wolf.
