The Envious Swans
The Envious Swansans

The tale reminds us that harboring jealousy and treating others with hostility can
result in losing what we value most.
Once upon a time, in a distant
kingdom, there was a wise and kind king.
He owned a magnificent pond within
his palace, where beautiful golden
swans had made their home. Every
month, these swans gifted the king
a single golden feather as a token of
their gratitude .
One day, a stunning golden
water-bird arrived at the pond, its
entire body adorned with feathers
as bright as the sun. The resident
swans saw this newcomer and
immediately felt envious and
threatened. They feared that the king would prefer the newcomer over them.
In a meeting, one swan suggested, "Friends, we give the king one golden
feather each month, but this newcomer has so many golden
feathers that the king might start favouring only him. We could lose our
value and importance."
The other swans, nodding in agreement, decided to approach the
golden bird and request that it leave the pond for another. They believed
that its presence would diminish their standing in the king's eyes.
