The Lion and the Fox
Once upon a time there was a lion. He was very, very old. His claws had
fallen out. He could not hunt and kill other animals for his food.
One day the hungry lion was sitting outside his den.
He began to think.
'I shall make them think I am old and
weak.
They will come to visit me.
I can easily kill them.'
The lion began to roar loudly.
“The lion is ill,” said the animals of
the forest, “but we are afraid. We cannot go to him.”
“I'm not afraid,” said a brave little goat. And off he went to the lion's den.
“Hello, little goat!” said the lion. “I'm old and
weak. I'm ill, too. Come a little nearer, I
can't see you.”
The little goat went nearer, and
suddenly. WHAM! The lion's
paw came down on the
goat's head and that was
the end of the brave
little goat.
