7. The Adverb
An adverb is a word used to modify a verb, an adjective or another
adverb and often used to show degree, manner, place or time.
Read the following sentences carefully : Oral Skill
1. The Sun shines brightly .
2. The baby was crying loudly .
3. She writes neatly .
4. The old man walks slowly .
5. The children were playing happily .

In these sentences, the words brightly loudly neatly slowly and
happily are adverbs. They tell us how the action is done.
