this to share this information directly with others, but rather to provide others who
already know this information from some other contact point with this member with
an additional, easy way to discover friends. Got that? Here’s an example: If you include
an option for entering an email address in the profile—and keep it private, hidden from
general view—it can still be used for member discovery by someone who knows that
(person’s) email address, providing an additional (and very efficient) method of finding
friends already on Twitter. Figure€11.6 shows the email and similar data that can be
used to help connect people on Twitter.
