1. Local police identified the fatality as Didik Adriyanto, 32, a resident of Kalibawang in
Kulonprogo Regency. He died after a tree fell on him as he was riding his motorcycle in Mlati
District in Sleman Regency. The police also said two other motorists were injured in the accident
and admitted to Panti Waluyo and Panti Rapih hospitals.
2. The Jakarta Post, Jakarta: Strong winds struck many parts of Yogyakarta on Saturday,
leaving one person dead and at least seven others injured, kompas.com reported.
3. The local meteorology and geophysics agency immediately warned the public of possible
recurrence of strong winds until the end of October.
4. Spokesman for Dr. Sarjito General Hospital, Trisno Heru Nugroho said the hospital received a
dead victim of the whirl winds and was treating five people who were wounded as a result of the
disaster.
5. A number of trees and billboards collapsed due to the whirl winds. Some of them fell on
electricity cables and caused a blackout.
