When Do I Seek Medical Advice?
Some folks may improve without formal care. Generally
you should see some degree of improvement within a few
days or a week after the symptoms begin. If you do not
notice any improvement you should contact your doctor
and start your physical therapy. “Red Flags” such as fever,
leg numbness and/or weakness (following onset of back
pain) are cause for prompt medical attention.

What Can I Expect From Physical
Therapy?
Your physical therapist will conduct a thorough evaluation
in order to determine the exact cause of your pain. Your
therapist will develop a personalized plan of care in order
to help alleviate the symptoms and teach you how to
recover your normal activity level in the most protected
fashion. Manual techniques, exercise, muscle re-training,
and symptom relieving modalities are a few of the tools at
your physical therapy team’s disposal.
