❑Teaching About Comparing Text (about places)
What to do?
• First, the teacher divides the students into two large groups (A and B).
• Next, the teacher asked students in group A to read announcement
text 1 and asked students in group B to read announcement text 2.
Then,
• The teacher explains that in each paragraph there are main ideas and
supporting ideas. The teacher gives an example of how to identify the
main idea and supporting idea in the first paragraph in texts 1 and 2.
• Next, the teacher asks students to identify the main ideas and
supporting ideas in each paragraph and complete the table. Students
in group A complete the table for text 1 and students in group B
complete the table for text 2.
After that,
• The teacher asks students from group B to look at question I and asks
students from group A to look at question II. The teacher asks
students from group A to find a partner from group B.
• The teacher asks group A to ask students in group B using the
question guide II and group B asks group A using the question guide I.
(For Task 3, the teacher can also distribute a list of questions I and II
that have been photocopied from attachment 1 or directly using the
list of questions in the student book).
