12 Education That Inspires
Arkansas State University-Beebe at Heber Springs built the Latimer
Center in 2000 at the industrial park on Arkansas 210. Also, during that
same year Cleburne County voters approved a measure to support the
college with sales-tax revenue. In 2006, ASU-Beebe bought a 249-acre
tract on Sugarloaf Mountain, and in 2007, the college completed phase 1 of
construction.
Since the college’s inception, it has greatly expanded its academic offerings
to include an Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding Technology,
as well as an Associate of Applied Science in Hospitality Administration
with an emphasis in culinary or administration.
Community Education courses are also available, and offer personal
interest and professional development classes for all ages. The Adult
Education Center provides testing and classes toward earning the General
Educational Development (GED) degree.
Founded in 1927, Arkansas State University-Beebe is an operationally
separate, two-year institution of the Arkansas State University System.
