This type of knot provides a conveniently quick method for tightening ridge
lines of tents simply by pulling the end of the hitch. Friction becomes
effective for this knot, and that’s also one of the reasons why it was named
as such.

1. Let the end pass around the branch or the tree.

2. Then, make a loop and wrap it twice around the rope’s standing
end.
3. Finally, make sure to tuck a bight at the end of the loop so that you
